Goodbye Zach

I heard today that the world lost another bright, kind soul. Zach Mellang of Lutsen died while student teaching in Australia. Zach was student teaching in K-12 Art, he loved art. Zach was a very kind-hearted person and he will be missed by everyone who knew him.

A few las parting words from Spain

Well my time here in Spain is almost over. I´ve had a great time. Madrid, El Prado, El Buen Retiro, Barcelona, El Museu Picasso, Parc Guell, Casa Batllo, Monserrat, La Rambla, Drinking 7€ drinks with a group of rather good looking Irish guys, walking, and walking, and walking I feel like I´ve walked across Spain. The port of Barcelona is beautiful, and I rode on a subway for the first time, that was an experience. Salamanca is definately my city of choice. The university was wonderful as were my teachers Toñi & Sergio. My classmates were awesome and kept things interesting. Our family, Manoli, Angel, y Pilar, the nicest people in Salamanca.
It will be weird coming home to little ole Cook, where there´s not 100,000 people, no ham hanging in the window of basically every store you pass, no crazy drivers, well there are crazy drivers in Cook, but they´re nothing compared to Spanish drivers. I´m excited to see my family, Mom, Dad, Trevor, Hunter, Sam, Grandma, Grandpa, and everyone else.
But I will stop reminising already, and leave with one last comment.
I want a hamburger!!!!!!

Just another day in Spain

Well it´s saturday now.
Spain is still beautiful, and still hot. It´s a weekend so there´s not a whole lot to do. I went to the Boroque Market, it was nice, but didn´t have as many little shops as I was expecting. I ate lunch with Blanca because Laura has abandoned me to be with her parents.
I took a short siesta and then i went to a movie, I wanted to go to Sahara with Matther McCoughney, but it wasn´t playing, so I went to After the Sunset with Pierce Brosnan.
There´s going to be fireworks tonight and then i get to talk to like my whole family because they´re at a surprise party for my brother.
That´s about it, my life is kind of boring if you don´t count the fact that I´m in Europe!
Anyways I´ll talk to everyone later!

A day in the life of an American exchange student in Spain

Well! We´ve been in Spain for 13 days.
It´s Monday and Thursday will be the half-way point.
It´s really beautiful here and hot. I really miss everyone at home.
For those of you who are interested, here´s my daily schedule:
7:30 Wake-up and get ready for the day
8:10 Eat breakfast, usually a piece of fruit and some grahm cracker type things
8:30 Walk to class
9:00 Grammer class for 2 hours
11:00 Communications class with my hot teacher Sergio
12:10 Spain Culture class
1:10 Meet with Blanca
1:45 Walk back to the casa for lunch
2:30 Lunch, which is the biggest meal of the day, way more than I ever eat at home even for supper
3:00 Siesta, it´s too damn hot to do anything else!
4:00 Homework time
After that we do whatever until
9:30 Supper, quite the change from the early-bird dinner I eat at home
10:30/11:00 Bedtime!
Well that´s my typical day, the weekend is different obviously, I get to sleep-in! YAY for sleep!
This weekend there´s a Boroque festival in the Plaza Mayor so that should be interesting to go to.
Well I hope all is well wherever you are that you´re reading this. Send me an e-mail or post a comment, I love hearing from you guys!
Until Next Time

IPods and student teaching.

Well kids its come to that time, yep i will be leaving the great BSU and inflicting my particular brand of torture, ie Spanish, on some poor unsuspecting High School Students. Virginia MN won't know what hit it! And to top things of I'll be done by Thanksgiving, so I will truly have something to give thanks for!
And to make my Monday rock a little more... I GOT AN IPOD!!! It's just a shuffle, but it still rocks! It's my brithday present from my Grandma and Grandpa. Those of you who know me know that my Birthday isn't until August, but this present came a little early. Because I wanted to have my iPod for when I go to SPAIN! I'm finally going!
We leave May 24th! ULTRA EXCITED! Spain watch-out, 4 chicas from BSU will soon be landing and we're looking to turn your country upside-down!
Well that's all folks, I have to go to a stupid floor meeting, so I'll try to write more, especially when I'm in Spain, to keep everyone up-to-date on our adventures.
Ciao!
